Infrastructure Team Leader & Applications Team Leader Positions

Infrastructure Team Leader

Main Objectives

  • Management of a large networked infrastructure of IT systems and services over a wide geographic area, providing reliability and competitive advantage.
  • Leadership of the Infrastructure team, including development, empowerment and motivation of the team so that it is customer focused, to deliver superior ICT services.
  • Delivering maxim uptime and minim restrictions while maintaining integrity and following or introducing ITIL standards as guidelines.
  • Delivering quality end user systems that are reliable and meet the user’s needs.
  • Maintaining an effective service desk and reporting KPIs.
  • Identify areas that would benefit from new or improved hardware or software.
  • Introducing change in a way that is acceptable to those affected.
  • Leading a team of energetic, highly technical people.
  • Managing the services within an agreed budget.
  • Deliver services within agreed ICT policy (ICT usage, business continuity, disaster recovery and security) in accordance with Pearson global standards and policy.
  • Following and Maintaining Pearson standards and relationships.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and documentation, including accurate registers of installed systems and software.
  • Training users in use of the equipment and services within Pearson policy.
  • Represent IT effectively in meetings and forums.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Business/Information Technology.
  • Extensive experience in information technology and its management.
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of logistics and business operations.
  • Able to develop and implement departmental plans and budgets.
  • Able to manage network providers and network services.
  • Able to manage software and hardware vendors and associated service providers.
  • Experienced with delivery of projects and change management
  • Experience with the hardware, operating systems, software packages, databases and development tools used by Pearson. (MPLS, Cisco, MS Windows Server, MS Sharepoint, SQL Server, Symantec products, BI, .net and associated tools)
  • Previous Leadership of technical ICT staff and delivery of IT Infrastructure projects
  • Creation and testing of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Strong administrative skills

Applications Team Leader

Main Objective

  • Management of a large ERP system providing diverse and complex services over a wide geographic area.
  • Leadership of applications team, including Development, empowerment and motivation of the team so that it is customer focused, to deliver superior ICT service development and motivation.
  • Delivery of development projects allocated.
  • Management of the budget allocated.
  • Provide excellent customer service delivery within a SLA and effective reporting of the KPIs.
  • Advice to the ICT Director on solutions and prioritization of demand for ICT systems and resources
  • Apply business and IS experience along with analytical & influencing skills to solve problems effectively and design appropriate best practice solutions that meet local and group business needs and policies.
  • Delivery of effective training in the use of systems delivered.
  • Ensure all solutions are specified and communicated in detail and at all times solutions are focused on being integrated, automated and as simple as possible.
  • Challenge existing practices and procedures and identify areas of service improvement across the department and the business.
  • Ensuring company’s applications resources are at all times optimized (human, hardware, software and processes), with minimal downtime.
  • Deliver ICT policy (ICT usage, business continuity, disaster recovery and security) in accordance with Pearson global standards and policy.
  • Apply project management skills and controls on in-house and sub-contracted ICT projects to ensure timely and cost effective service delivery i.e. on-time delivery, within budget that delivers the projected results.
  • Represent IT effectively in meetings and forums.
  • Working with our software suppliers and support companies to obtain the best result for Pearson.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Tertiary qualifications in business and/or computing.
  • At least 10 years commercial experience in analyzing business requirements & developing appropriate solutions to meet business needs in an ERP environment
  • Proven track record in successfully managing & delivering systems and services involving large scale ERP systems, an ERP vendor and their support.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate clearly in written & verbal forms.
  • Must be able to delegate effectively.
  • Experience with the operating systems, software packages, databases and development tools used by Pearson. (AS400, MS Sharepoint, SQL Server, BI, .net and associated tools)
  • Understanding of and application of SDLC methodologies & tools.
  • Previous Leadership of technical ICT staff and delivery of IT Application projects
  • Creation and testing of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
