7 Dead-Simple Steps to Getting More Done

  1. Stop reading after going through point number 7 and close your other tabs. Seriously, I mean it.
  2. Clean up that messy desk of yours – file it up, dust it off and neaten it. Trust me, this will help clear your mind.
  3. Go pour yourself half a litre of water and drink half of it, right now. This will lighten you up, cool you down and keep you fresh.
  4. Ask yourself one question and one question only: “What is the most important thing I should be doing right now?”
  5. Once you’ve answered that, single out the most difficult and important task you can do, close your eyes and imagine yourself doing it. Do this for a few minutes, and afterwards you will be practically already done.
  6. Don’t worry about the end goal for now – do the very first thing you can do to start with the task. It may be standing up, opening up Excel or Word, or getting out your phone. Just get the pebble rolling.
  7. By now you should know exactly what you should do, have started on it just a bit, and be focused on how you are going to do it. All you have to do is keep focusing and you will be done. As you make progress, bring the end goal in mind now and then, and keep making little increments to get there closer.
